The government on Tuesday recognised 26 war heroines, who were violated by the Pakistani occupation army during War of Independence in 1971, as freedom fighter.
This is second batch of war heroines better known as Biranganas, got recognition as freedom fighter by the government.
The liberation war affairs ministry on Monday issued a gazette notification recognising 26 biranganas as freedom fighters, said ministry information officer Sufi Abdullahil Maruf.
The liberation war affairs ministry issued first gazette recognizing these 41 biranganas, on October 12, 2015.
These war heroines would get all benefits enjoyed by a freedom fighter, including as allowance per month from the government, quota in jobs and others.
