3 Ansar men killed, 30 other injured in Habiganj road mishap

Three Ansar members were killed and at least 30 others received injuries in a road accident in Sutang-Suraboi area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway under Sahestaganj upazila of the district on Tuesday morning. The deceased were identified as Ziaul Haque (30) of Kosba upazila of Brahmanbaria district, Shariful Islam (28), son of Mishon Ali of Panchgaon village of Bijoynogor upazila of the same district and Babul Mia (25), son of Idon Mia of Monsorpur village under Nasirnagar upazila. Among the injured, Uzzol (27) and Razib Das (27) were admitted at Dhaka Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University College and Monir (27), Joshim (28), Emran (27) and Rakibul (28) were admitted at Sylhet M A G Osmani Medical College Hospital. The rest of the injured were taken to Habiganj Sadar Hospital after the incident.
Local source stated that the accident occurred when a Sreemangal-bound bus of ‘Uttora Poribohon’ -carrying the Ansar members, collided head-on with a truck at about 10 am, leaving more than 30 Ansar men injured. Later, Shaistaganj Highway thana police recovered the injured from the spot with help of the locals. Afterwards, Habiganj Sadar Hospital doctors declared the death of the three Ansar men on arrival at the hospital. Shaistaganj Highway thana Officer-in-Charge Md. Zakir Hossain PPM confirmed the incident.
