Drives on to recover arms missing from sunken police boat


The police and the fire service men started drives to recover firearms and ammunition in the River Dhaleshwari in Munshiganj on Thursday morning after an engine boat carrying policemen sunk.
Mukterpur and Kalaguchchha river police, and divers from Sadarghat fire service were continuing search for three shotguns and 60 bullets till 11:30am.
Munshiganj police super Biplab Bijay Talukder said a trawler of Mukterpur river police capsized in the river around 10:00pm on Wednesday as a lighter vessel hit it.
Five policemen including assistant sub-inspector Atikur Rahman who boarded on the trawler managed to swim ashore but lost their arms and ammunition, he said.
