India’s narrow win over Bangladesh has made things very interesting in Group 2, as it is witnessing a three-way stand-off now, with Pakistan, Australia and India having equal chances of qualifying for the second semifinal slot from the group.
The match is a must-win game for Pakistan, who will be playing their last group game. Shahid Afridi-led team have won only one game out off three they played in this year’s edition of the ICC World T20. They will have to register a thumping win over Australia and hope India to lose against the Kangaroos later.
However, if Steve Smith and Co beat the Green Shirts on Friday, then it will be a virtual quarterfinal match between India and Australia on Sunday (Marxh 27). On the other hand, if Pakistan beat Australia, it will be a contest between India and Australia where the net run-rate will become a crucial factor.
