The United States sees a growing threat in Russia and China

United States Russia and China

US called Russia and China "revisionist powers".

Russia and China are "revisionist powers" who seek to create a world corresponding to their "authoritarian" models.

This was stated by US Secretary of Defense James Mattis, representing the concept of a national defense strategy, writes DW.com.

The authors of the 11-page document accuse Moscow of "violating borders with neighboring states," recalling the conflict in the east of Ukraine and the annexation of the Crimea. Russia seeks to get an opportunity to interfere in the decisions of its neighbors, taken in the field of economy, diplomacy and security policy, note in the Pentagon.

In turn, China is accused of "piratical economic policy", conducted to intimidate neighboring states, as well as militarization of the South China Sea.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Elbridge Colby noted that the concept does not imply a course of confrontation with the Russian Federation and the PRC, but only recognizes the fact that military "rivalry" with the two countries has recently intensified.

At the same time, the authors of the concept of defense strategy note the importance of international alliances, including NATO. The Pentagon again calls on the members of the North Atlantic Alliance to fulfill their obligations and contribute at least 2 percent of their countries' GDP to the budget of the organization.
