Tiger Cub Found Inside Duffel Bag at U.S.-Mexico Border Gets Forever Home

A tiger cub found inside a duffel bag crossing the border from Mexico is now settling into its forever home in Texas.

Kenobi was transported to In-Sync Exotics, an animal sanctuary in Dallas, Thursday night, and is slowly making himself comfortable.

The sanctuary is now planning to introduce him to a fellow cub at their sanctuary after Kenobi’s quarantine period. His playmate, also bestowed with a "Star Wars" moniker — Kylo Ren, is a white tiger cub born earlier this year.

"Kenobi is adjusting well to his new environment," In-Sync Exotics spokesperson Angela Culver told InsideEdition.com. "If all goes well, the two tiger cubs will move to their new permanent enclosure and playground in a couple of weeks."

Kenobi was about 3 or 4 months old when he was found abandoned in a black duffel bag at the Rio Grande by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, authorities said in a statement.

Agents said they saw three men trying to enter the United States illegally while patrolling the river near Brownsville. The three men fled, but left behind a duffel bag with the cub stuffed inside, authorities said.

"When he was found, he was lethargic, dehydrated, and had a temperature of 107," Culver said. "If he'd been found even 30 minutes later, he probably would've been dead."

Authorities initially turned the cub over to the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville. After Kenobi's condition stabilized, the zoo contacted In-Sync Exotics to adopt him into their sanctuary.
